An Overview of the National Digital Public Attack Surface

This country study of the Austrian Cyberspace is part of Dreamlab Technologies’ initiative to provide an insight into the entire potential attack surface of a nation by using CyObs - a high-precision cyber radar system. It provides a complete view of the actual status of Austria’s cyberspace, supplying the essential data and critical insights to proactively reduce the attack surface, as well as to address vulnerabilities and risks. By combining threat detection, risk management and comprehensive insights, this report assists both the Austrian government, critical infrastructure providers and private organisations achieve their cybersecurity objectives.

Key insights from this year’s report include:

  • 1.4 million IPv4 addresses and 520,000 reviewed .at domain names.
  • 1.2 million potential vulnerabilities.
  • Only 5.6% of web servers of the unique IP addresses are within the Austrian IP space.
  • Only 4.25% of DNS servers in the Austrian cyberspace are in its IP space.
  • Only 18% of mail exchanges (unique IP addresses) are in the Austrian IP space.
